VARANASI: “The introduction of a student-centered education system in the country is the focus of the Varanasi Declaration of National Education Policy 2020 adopted in the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam,” said Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in his disapproval speech at the three-day Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) at Varanasi which concluded on Saturday.
“Our higher education must be for the student and by the teacher. “Our administration will do everything to support the teachers to meet the aspirations of our youth,” he said. The three-day event, inaugurated on Thursday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was hosted by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the University Grants Commission and Banaras Hindu University.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday after the conclusion of the three-day summit, Pradhan said that the New Education Policy (NEP) -2020 is a major paradigm shift to bring a new culture into the education system. “We need to make India a knowledge-based economy in the 21st century and pay special attention to technology and skills development to prepare students according to today’s needs,” he said, adding that in the future, this Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam would be a milestone in the awakening of India.
The NEP-2020 inspires us all to work in the spirit of ‘Student First’ and to keep the interests of the students first. “There is a lot of talent in our students. We have to prepare the education system according to their merits, ”he said, adding that the teachers are the most important link in the implementation of NEP and this educational movement. The NEP-2020 emphasizes capacity building of teachers.
“We need to make universities multidimensional and multidisciplinary according to the concepts of NEP-2020, to give special importance to the education of skills development,” he said, adding that it is the responsibility of universities not just to prepare . job seekers, but also job creators who keep the current scenario in mind, and for this, NEP-2020 gives special direction to universities.
He further said that all the languages ​​of the country are national languages. “We are committed to providing modern education in Indian languages,” he said, adding, “By providing opportunities for Indian language education, we will be able to connect a large part of the education system and promote research and innovation”. For the full implementation of NEP-2020 and the development of the nation and society, all the universities of the country will have to work together by coming together on one platform. ”
He said the Shiksha Samagam was a very important link to establish India as a knowledge-based superpower. The NEP-2020 was made taking into account the needs of the 21st century and the bright future of India. It provides an opportunity to change the colonial education system imposed for the purpose of economic exploitation. “We need to include such elements in our universities and education system so that we can also address the challenges of climate change and also achieve sustainable development goals,” he said.
