LYNCHBURG, Virginia (WDBJ) – The Lynchburg Region Small Business Development Center is offering a free course for those who want to start a family daycare childcare business.
They are offering the course in September to teach people basic marketing, financial forecasting and other tools to make their businesses successful.
They will also discuss human resources, leadership and certain safety aspects associated with licensing required by the Department of Education. The SMDC says research on licensing standards and this class will put people on a good path to a successful and safe family day care service.
“The resources we provide, I hope it will give family day care providers a little more insight to be licensed and what I mean by licensed is that once you apply for license, and inspector comes in and inspects your facility to make sure that it is at code. They are really there to make sure the environment is safe. I think the use of these services will, if anything at least, give families peace of mind, ”explains Anthony Andrews, early childhood education consultant at SBDC.
The course is aimed at those in the Lynchburg area and will take place every second Saturday morning until mid-December.
