Turton’s AJ’s Out Of School Childcare praised

A child care center that provides young people with experiences that will stay with them for a lifetime ‘has been awarded a glowing report by the education watchdog.

AJ’s Out Of School Childcare in Turton was praised for the variety of activities offered to children.

AJ owner Amanda Dunleavy said: “I’m absolutely excited. I’m so proud of myself.

“Everything was bob on, the inspector said he had the best day, so we are so satisfied.

“We have between 600 and 900 children through the holiday camps in August. We do care before and after school and the holidays, but August is where we do a lot.

“We go out, do silage, fishing – no electronic devices are allowed, it’s just pure outside fun.”

The report by Inspector Richard Sutcliffe said: “Children experience the awe and wonder of the world when they attend the club. Days are filled with experiences that will stay with them for a lifetime. ”

The report added: “Parents are particularly complimentary about the club. They say their children ‘get the joy’ of coming to the club.

“Parents explain that their children turn in very quickly, that the staff genuinely cares for the children and that their children benefit from the extensive outdoor opportunities.

“Staff say they like working with the environment. They receive regular oversight meetings from the owner.

“It focuses on their own well-being, the quality of their practice and any training needs.”
